About Powder Orange
Powder Orange is a colour form of Porcellionides pruinosus, named for the dusty, powdery finish on its bright orange shell. It is one of the fastest-breeding isopods in the hobby and handles warm Indian temperatures well, which makes it the easiest choice for a first colony or a cleanup crew in reptile and amphibian tanks.
Powder Orange care guide
- Keep one side of the box moist and the other side drier, so the colony can choose.
- Use 5–8 cm of substrate with plenty of leaf litter and a piece of bark to hide under.
- Feed small amounts of vegetables or fish flakes once or twice a week, and remove leftovers before they mould.
- Good ventilation matters more than high humidity for this species.
