Captive-bred isopods from Kerala, shipped across India
Exotic Terras is a small isopod breeder in Ottapalam, Kerala. We keep and breed every colony ourselves, from easy beginner species like Powder Orange and Dwarf White to collector favourites like Rubber Ducky, Gestroi and Cubaris murina morphs such as Papaya, Glacier and Orange. Our isopods and springtails work as a natural cleanup crew in bioactive terrariums, paludariums and reptile or dart frog vivariums, and they are fascinating pets on their own.
Alongside live animals we make ready-to-display mini terrariums and terrarium starter kits, so you can build a living ecosystem at home. Every order ships live across India with our arrival guarantee, and you can ask us anything about care on WhatsApp before you buy.
Questions
Still unsure? Message us on WhatsApp and we’ll help you pick the right species for your setup.
What if my isopods arrive dead?
Send a photo or video within 2 hours of delivery and we’ll replace them or refund you. That’s our live arrival guarantee.
Which species should a beginner start with?
Powder Orange and Dwarf White. Both breed quickly, handle small mistakes and are great cleaners in a bioactive tank.
How many isopods should I buy to start a colony?
All isopods are priced per piece. For common species like Powder Orange, Dwarf White or Dairy Cow, 10–15 is a good start. For slower Cubaris and Armadillidium, start with at least 5–6. We send mixed sizes, mostly juveniles and sub-adults, which settle in and breed sooner.
What are isopods and why keep them?
Isopods are small land crustaceans that eat decaying leaves, wood and mould. Keepers use them as a natural cleanup crew in bioactive terrariums and vivariums, and many colourful species like Rubber Ducky and Dairy Cow are kept as display pets in their own right.
Do you ship isopods across India?
Yes. We offer 1-day delivery anywhere in Kerala and fast delivery all over India, in insulated, ventilated packaging. Every order is covered by our live arrival guarantee.
Do you ship to my area?
We ship anywhere India Post Speed Post or our courier partners reach. Very remote pin codes may take an extra day.
Responsible keeping & legal disclaimer

Captive-bred animals only
Every isopod and springtail we sell is bred in captivity by Exotic Terras in Kerala. We do not collect, buy or sell animals or plants taken from the wild, from forests, protected areas or national parks.
No protected species
We only sell common hobby invertebrates and nursery-grown plants. To the best of our knowledge, none of the species we offer are listed in the Schedules of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 (as amended in 2022) or in the CITES appendices. If a species we sell is ever added to a protected list, we will stop selling it immediately.
Never release into the wild
Many of the isopods we sell are not native to India. Releasing them, or any terrarium contents, into gardens, forests or water bodies can harm local wildlife and ecosystems. By ordering from us, you agree to keep the animals in closed enclosures and never release them outdoors. If you can no longer keep your colony, message us and we will help rehome it.
Intended use
Our animals are sold for hobby keeping, bioactive terrariums, education and as a cleanup crew for pets. They are not sold for consumption, research testing or any use that causes unnecessary harm.
Buyer responsibility
You are responsible for following any local, state or national rules that apply to keeping these animals where you live. Children should keep animals with adult supervision, and everyone should wash their hands after handling animals, substrate or plants.
